Eden Modular Shelving System
Eden Shelving Factsheet
Why Eden
Eden modular shelving is manufactured within the UK and is the brand
used by many large retailers including supermarkets. Not to
be
confused with the poor quality copies that are being brought
in from
the Far East. In our view, you purchase a system like this to
give you
many years of good use and it is false economy to buy a cheap copy and
find that spare parts and accessories are not available within the UK.
So our choice is to stock a system called Eden which is manufactured in
the UK and used by some of the UK's biggest names (check for yourself -
look for the name Eden on the shelf brackets when you are next out
shopping). You are buying a proven product which has been produced to a
UK specification and can be confident that, if used properly, it will
be safe to use. Retailers place high demands on their shelving and just
imagine the impact should a shelving bay collapse - the loss of stock,
disruption to the business could be huge; let alone the impact of any
injuries that may be caused. Don't take risks with shelving - buy a
reputable brand.
What is modular shelving
When we talk about modular shelving systems in a shopfitting context we
are thinking about the sort of systems that you can see everyday in the
big supermarkets. The beauty of these systems is that they are strong,
hard wearing and have accessories to suit most types of display
situation. You will see that the supermarkets use different variants of
the same systems to display items ranging from tins of beans/bottles of
wine to TVs/Computers and everything in between. These systems offer
all shapes and sizes of shelves, pegboard panels as well as slatboard
panels built into the same freestanding framework. This is why you will
also see the same systems used in corner shops, garden centres,
chandlers, gift shops, museums etc etc. Modular shelving systems are
simple, strong and extremely versatile - they can also be quite
attractive if you go for the matt silver components rather than the
standard cream.
How is it specified
With these systems you decide how high you want the unit(s) to
be (wall units 2400mm whereas units in the middle of the shop should be
1400/1600mm so that you can see over the top) and how deep front to
back (470mm is a good average but 570mm is good if you have the space).
Against the wall you would go for single sided units but in the centre
of the shop double sided units are far more effective.
The baseleg sits on the floor and has adjustable feet to cope with
uneven ground. The column fits into the back of the baseleg to create
an endleg assembly. Two of these assemblies are placed apart
(choice of 665mm, 1000mm or 1250mm apart) and a shelf laid across the
top of the baselegs. Back panels are then slotted into the column one
after the other. Add your choice of shelves, don't forget that you also
need the appropriate brackets, and your unit is assembled.
